ADHD coaching is a type of coaching which focuses on the challenges often encountered by individuals with ADHD; these include attention/focus, emotion regulation, time management, organization, impulse control, goal-directed persistence, stress tolerance, and planning. An ADHD coach supports and empowers clients to feel confident, take control of their lives, and enrich their relationships.

Coaching involves exploring the client’s present challenges and planning for the future, while counselling usually involves exploring the client’s past and present. While coaching sometimes involves exploring emotional challenges, it does not involve exploration of trauma and emotional distress.

The structure of an ADHD coaching session is really up to the client. However, the typical structure a coach would follow would involve:
1. A check-in to discuss and understand what prompted the client to attend the session and clarify specific goals.
2. Asking the client self-reflective questions to help the client explore the issue and identify potential solutions that align with their own needs and circumstances.
3. Discussion to collaborate and align on realistic goals for the client to work on before the next session.
